STASIA
I was raised in the Midwest, and spent my first decade in the home of the winter grounds of the Ringling Brothers Circus. I remember riding elephants and ponies, exploring the museums of 1920’s nomadic circus caravan, and watching the big top shows – lions, trapeze, clowns, magicians and acrobats. The magick and mystery of the circus has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I began dancing onstage in large productions at the age of five with Penny Imray Dance. This early immersion in the world of ballet led to a lifelong devotion to movement in a myriad of forms. I have since studied Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, Tai Chi, Capoeria, Budo Taijitsu, Modern Dance, African Dance, Bellydance, Butoh, Hip Hop, and Jazz.
My passion for ecstatic dance eventually led me to the west coast in the fall of 2006. There, in the Bay Area of San Francisco, I found a rich and vibrant arts culture centered in the exploration of the primal force of creation and the celebration of the potential of human spirit. Inspired by this bohemian community of visionary talent, I evolved and matured, and came to know myself as the Creatrix of my own reality.
It is with great pleasure and satisfaction that I join the MythMakers for tour this season. I am honored to live with, work with and play with such a dedicated troupe of dreamers and healers. The world is ready for change. We are here to help this process of transformation, regeneration and evolution, to inspire hope and to encourage the dreamers to continue to dream. We have come to tell a story, a story we all share.
